Picoshot Launches New Code Format

Today, we are launching a new code format that uses javascript and a new Preview Verification Page (PVP).

One major benefit to this change is that ShrinkTheWeb will be increasing the new request limit significantly. That means that many more requests per day will be allowed and should make this service a great deal more useful.

This change is being made to address some security issues but will also ensure that this service continues to remain 100% FREE!

Picoshot Scales Back During Economic Downturn

Due to the worsening economy (which we hope to see rebound by March of 2009!), ShrinkTheWeb has decided to scale back Picoshot operations for an indeterminate time.

Therefore, no NEW thumbnails will be generated by Picoshot during this service suspension. Any existing thumbnails will continued to be shown and will not affect current users.

This is necessary in order to continue providing the utmost service (for FREE!) to Shrink The Web's (visit site) primary customers and this move helps to cut costs.

We would send notice of this action to our users but since there is no registration required, there is no way to notify anyone directly. Therefore, this news bulletin will serve as notice for those who visit Picoshot to determine why NEW screenshots are on-hold temporarily.

Picoshot Supports Subdomains

We are pleased to announce that Picoshot now also supports captures of subdomains as well.

This should open the doors for several of you who are looking to expand the usefulness of Picoshot's free service in your designs!

Picoshot Back Online

Picoshot outgrew it's ability to sustain itself as a completely free thumbnail service provider and it subsequently went offline for a short period. However, Picoshot has received a helping hand to re-open the doors and provide this free service for users once again.

We will be gradually implementing the same features that you were used to and we plan to support requests via image.picoshot.com.

We do not plan to integrate the new features originally hinted to by the previous owner, but we will continue to allow the same great benefits at no charge. If you are looking for features not found here at picoshot, then we invite you to consider the services of our new sister company, ShrinkTheWeb, developed by Brandon Elliott of Neosys Consulting.
